(<--)Grosso masso di distacco con superficie superiore piana-irregolare-convessa. Forma ovale. Incisioni concentrate lungo fascia mediana superiore, orientate lungo l'asse maggiore, che punta verso la cascata e le cime sovrastanti. Sotto la roccia c'è un piccolo riparo. Larghe strie glaciali in senso nord-sud (direzione valle). Il masso è franato prima dell'ultima glaciazione. Incisioni sottoposte a ripetute gessature e graffiti vandalici. Visibilità solo con luce radente. Secondo fonti locali (vedi "Valchiusella Archeologica") le croci raffigurerebbero i Salassi morti nella battaglia con i Romani. La presenza delle strie glaciali conferma la possibilità di una lunga conservazione delle incisioni. (-->)

The Rock of the Crosses - CHL.PCR1 - b

Huge boulder with flat-irregular-convex upper surface. Shape oval. Engravings are concentrated along the middle upper part, oriented along the greater axis, pointed towards the overhanging waterfall and mountains tops. Under the rock there is a small shelter. Wide glacial striae north-south oriented (which is the direction of the valley). The boulder slided down before the last ice-age. The engravings are subjected to repeated vandalic chalking and graffiti. It is possible to see the engravings only with natural grazing light (early in the morning). According to local sources (cited in the book "Valchiusella Archaeologica") the crosses would represent the Salassi warriors died during the battle with the Romans. The glacial striae represent a confirmation of the possibility of a long conservation of the engravings. (-->)
